A Day On The Beach. Mostly.

I promised Kim I would try and slow down on this trip and than included spending the day on the beach when possible. So Lido la Pigna was our home for most of the day. Nice and relaxing. Nicest thing was the beach club came and got us at the hotel making it that not only did I not have to drive that hill again but also showing us a different way to go than the Garmin would have taken us. The Garmin is great but can be adventurous…

After the relaxing day and some time to relax at the hotel we headed into Taormina (via hotel shuttle!!) for dinner. This part of Sicily including Taormina say alot of action in World War II as the allies swept thru the island on the way to the end of Italy but today is a sleepy town full of tourists and, on a Friday night wedding parties. Saw at least five. Molto bene!

New hotel, slow link… 🙁

Following Monty’s Route

A quick one tonight.

Today we moved on to Sicily. An easy hop from Malta we spent more time waiting for our luggage than the actual flight time itself.

We moved up the coast of Sicily from Catania to Taormina essentially following the same route Field Marshal Montgomery chose during World War II. What he was thinking is beyond me. Look it up.

Mt Etna was obscured by clouds but decided to come out and have a cocktail with us.

As high as we are there is still a town farther up.
